English National Curriculum Review

You may have seen that the English National Curriculum review has been released - and you may love it or hate it!

We were encouraged to read that there is a real connection to some of the work Jeni Trice (CEO, Founder and Chief Coding Adventurer at Get with the Program) been doing with the Gender Pathways Collective organised by Engineering UK, and Get with the Program's coding adventures in general.

The points that have particularly caught our attentions are (paraphrased from Richard Adams Education Editor, The Guardian, Tue 4 Nov 2025):

🔸 Focus on social diversity - stronger representation to be made of “the diversity that makes up our modern society, allowing more children to see themselves in the curriculum”.

🔸 Statutory citizenship classes - introduction of a statutory measure to ensure that all children are taught citizenship classes at primary school, which should include elements of financial and media literacy, and climate change and sustainability.

🔸 Replace computing science GCSE - with a broader GCSE in computing that prepares young people “for applying digital technology and data across a wide range of fields”, including the use of artificial intelligence.

We will spend some time looking at the details, but in general applaud the focus on these aspects for the future curriculum and know that they will be broadly welcomed by Heads and teaching staff with the more progressives already taking steps in this direction to enable their pupils and students to be prepared for life outside of formal education!

Through our exciting remotely delivered coding adventures, we strive not only to enrich the STEM curriculum but also promote equality through inclusivity, which focuses not just on physical inclusion in education but also looks at past and present role models to promote and foster a vision that all pupils and students have a positive part to play in tech and innovation.

We create purposeful content, that focuses on topics like climate change and sustainability (and perhaps financial literacy - coming soon!) and also help lift the lid on new tech topics including artificial intelligence and the application of technology across a wide range of fields.

So, in summary, we're cautiously optimistic with this announcement from the Government - how did you feel?
