What a lovely visit to Aviation House, Gatwick yesterday, home of the UK Civil Aviation Authority!
Our own CEO 'Professor' Jeni Trice and our Project Development Specialist, Kathryn Becher, spent the day meeting the lovely representatives of all the other Reach for the Sky grant recipients, as well as the CAA team, and some of those involved from the Department for Transport.
We are lucky enough to be one of only two organisations to be awarded Reach for the Sky grants in consecutive years this time, and we were told the competition was very stiff!
It was fabulous to meet so many of the new grant holders and to hear all about your plans for 2026 to fulfil the 3 aims of the grant:
Inspire the next generation of aviation and aerospace professionals, championing the opportunities available in the sector.
Reach individuals who would not otherwise be aware of the vast career opportunities available to them within the aviation and aerospace sector.
Have a broad impact by reaching and engaging multiple people
This year will be redeveloping our existing highly successful Moon Landing Coding Adventure, so that it moves from the 5-8 year-old age range to cover the full 5-11 year old primary range!
We had a wonderful time hearing about the next steps in our new Reach for the Sky journey, getting stuck in with a wonderful aviation based escape room icebreaker, meeting all our new grant-fund cohort and hatching plans for collaboration between our initiatives! We can't wait to get started!
If you'd like to sign up for last year's CAA-funded 5-8 year-old Moon Landing Coding Adventure, there's still time until 31 March 2026 (and you can always register your interest for the 7-11 ages range, which will be available from September 2026!) www.getwiththeprogram.org.uk/reach-for-the-sky
