Once hailed as an innovation and solution to the reduction of use of natural material, plastics (micro-plastics) are now present in our food chain and in the air that we breathe.
And whilst steps have been taken to reduce and, in some cases, remove single use plastics, we have some way to go to stop and reverse the damage that has already been caused to the environment and to all living creatures.
Earth Day 2024 on Monday 22nd April is a call to action for Planet vs Plastics, demanding a 60% reduction in the production of plastics by 2040, with an ultimate goal of building a plastic-free future for generations to come.
Whilst it can be hard to imagine that we can have a direct impact on the manufacturing of plastics, we can all certainly learn how to make better choices in the products that we buy. We have purchasing power and collectively this can make a positive difference.
Our Eco Coding Adventure for KS1 and LKS2 (ages 5-9) focuses on reducing waste whilst shopping, and helps students combine their concerns for the environment with problem-solving using computing!
Covering key elements of the KS1 and KS2 computing curriculum, this is a perfect way to mark Earth Day.
What's even better is that we could offer this to your school for FREE through the generosity of our corporate and private sponsors.
