Velmead Junior School Enjoy a Healthy Lunch-Bot Coding Adventure!

Our third Coding Day sponsored by Bupa is running on Friday 16th June, only a few short weeks away! It's totally FREE to take part and a great way to cover the computing

curriculum ... as Velmead Junior School in Fleet, Hampshire found out when they took part in our last Bupa Coding Day!

Mr Fletcher, Computing Lead, describes the day enjoyed by Years 3 & 4:

Children from these year groups had the opportunity to complete activities around a healthy eating theme with plenty of challenging coding. By working together with ‘Professor’ Trice and Al the Robot, the children had to design, write, test and debug algorithms. Velmead classes watched a 30-minute online show hosted by 'Professor' Trice, who explained to them some of the coding principles they would be using. Throughout the day, Year 3 children tackled the 'Program Each Other' activity, while Year 4 tested their coding knowledge by programming using Scratch. Program Each Other involved the children becoming designers, robots and writers, as they had to design and write an algorithm to guide their robot and pick up the healthy snacks. All the children had lots of fun and were thoroughly engaged with these healthy-lunch-themed coding activities.

It's not too late to join in on June 16th and you never know, you may even get a surprise visit from 'Professor' Trice or Al the Robot!
